logoAbout MAHI

The Metropolitan Association of Home Inspectors (MAHI) is a professional association serving home inspectors throughout the New York metropolitan area. We bring inspectors together to share experience, strengthen professional practice, and support the homeowners and real estate professionals who rely on their work.

Our History

MAHI began in 1998 when two established Long Island home inspectors recognized the need for a local association focused on the challenges facing New York inspectors. They chose the name Metropolitan Association of Home Inspectors to reflect the region they served.

Since then, MAHI has provided a local forum for professional learning and collaboration. Our association connects inspectors with colleagues who understand the buildings, communities, and practical demands of working in the metropolitan New York area.

Our Mission

Our mission is to advance professionalism in home inspection through education, ethical practice, and cooperation among inspectors. We work to:

  • Support continuing education and professional development.
  • Encourage high standards of practice and professional ethics.
  • Connect homebuyers and real estate professionals with qualified inspectors.
  • Represent the interests of the home inspection profession in New York.
